Sourcing Raw Materials

At Family Coir, it all begins with the finest coconut husks, carefully sourced from the lush coconut farms of Pollachi. Blessed with the perfect climate and year-round availability, our location ensures a consistent supply of high-quality raw materials for every batch we produce.

De-Fibering

Next, we process the husks through our advanced de fibering machines. This separates the long, strong coir fibers from the soft coir dust. While the fibers are used to make other coir based products, the dust becomes the heart of our Cocopeat, the foundation for healthy plant growth.

Screening and Sieving

The coir dust then goes through a careful screening and sieving process to remove larger particles, stones, and impurities. This step guarantees a uniform texture and consistency, ensuring that every grain of Family Coir Cocopeat delivers premium quality ideal for gardening, horticulture, and agriculture.

Washing and Treatment

To meet strict international standards, we wash the sieved coir dust with fresh water to lower salinity levels. This treatment process ensures that our Cocopeat is naturally balanced and free from harmful salts, making it a safe and nutrient rich medium for all types of plants.

Drying

Once washed, the Cocopeat is spread out across our large open drying yards to be sun dried naturally. Our climate controlled facility allows for efficient drying without losing the product’s natural goodness. The result is a perfectly balanced moisture content, ideal for compression and long term storage.

Compression

After drying, the Cocopeat is compressed using high capacity hydraulic machines into various sizes such as 5kg blocks, 650g briquettes, grow slabs, and coco discs. This compression makes handling and transportation easier while retaining the product’s ability to expand fully once hydrated.

Packaging and Quality Check

Every batch of Family Coir Cocopeat undergoes strict quality inspections before packaging. Once approved, the product is sealed in durable, moisture resistant packaging to maintain freshness and integrity until it reaches our customers.
